On the other hand, moving around by bicycle is challenging in this area since the bicycling network is not very well-developed, and cyclists encounter quite a few hills. Travelling by foot is not very popular in this part of Pickering, even though many day-to-day needs are easy to carry out without the use of a vehicle. In contrast, moving around by car is very convenient in Bay Ridges. Nearby highways, such as Highway 401, are very easy to reach from any location in Bay Ridges, and it is very convenient to park.

Bay Ridges is reasonably good for those who enjoy a quiet atmosphere, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although there are still several noisier areas, especially near Highway 401 or one of the railway lines. Parks are distributed sporadically, which makes them very hard to reach.
