Hamilton is a city located within Ontario, Canada.


Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing most dwellings in Hamilton, and the remaining homes are mainly large apartment buildings and townhouses. About one third of properties in this city were constructed pre-1960, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s. This city offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy roughly two thirds of the properties in the city while the rest are rented.


The best transportation option in Hamilton is very often driving. It is straightforward to find a parking spot. In contrast, getting around by public transit is challenging in Hamilton. Nevertheless, there is the West Harbour Station and Hamilton GO Centre Station on the Lakeshore West Line. There are about 40 bus lines crossing the city, and it is convenient to find a nearby bus stop from most homes. Hamilton is not very well-suited for those who travel by foot since running common errands is inconvenient. Hamilton is also not very conducive to bicycling as riding is rendered difficult by the often steep topography, and the bicycling network is not very comprehensive.


High schools and primary schools are not particularly abundant in Hamilton, and consequently not always within walking distance. Families are served by public and private schools at both the elementary and secondary school level. Furthermore, daycares are not especially numerous and consequently tend to require a rather long walk to get to. Regarding eating, a fraction of home buyers in Hamilton may be able to reach one of over 300 supermarkets on foot, while others will have to use a vehicle. A limited selection of restaurants and coffee shops is available as well.


The character of Hamilton is exemplified by its slower-paced environment. Most areas in this city are quiet, as the streets are usually reasonably peaceful - although there are still several noisier sections, especially around one of the railway lines, the airport (YHM), Red Hill Valley Parkway or Highway 6. Lastly, there are over 400 parks nearby for residents to visit, which makes it easy to reach them from the majority of locations within Hamilton.
