CEO of Bridgemarq Real Estate Services, Inc., which owns Royal LePage, Johnston & Daniel, Via Capitale and Proprio Direct, ranked 13th overall on Swanepoel’s international list of 200 most powerful people in real estate; Royal LePage COO, Carolyn Cheng, recognized on list for fifth consecutive year

TORONTO, January 9, 2024 – For the 11th year in a row, T3 Sixty’s Swanepoel Power 200 (SP 200) has named Phil Soper, President and CEO of Royal LePage and Bridgemarq Real Estate Services, Inc., the most influential person in Canadian residential real estate. Soper ranked 13th overall, and is once again the highest ranking leader in Canada. Chief Operating Officer of Royal LePage, Carolyn Cheng, has also been recognized on the prestigious list for the fifth consecutive year. Soper and Cheng have achieved notable recognition, securing two of only five positions on the esteemed list held by Canadians this year. The SP 200 is the definitive ranking of residential real estate leaders in North America.

“I am truly honoured to be included in the Swanepoel Power 200 list for another year alongside a group of accomplished and well-respected leaders in the international real estate industry. This recognition is a testament to the collaborative spirit of my colleagues and their unwavering commitment to our shared mission,” said Phil Soper. “I’m incredibly proud to lead this group of outstanding and hard-working individuals.”

Carolyn Cheng ranked 146th overall on the list of most influential real estate leaders, and is the only female Canadian to be recognized this year. Cheng oversees the development of Royal LePage’s robust range of services, encompassing business, technology and valuable training services tailored to franchise owners, teams and sales representatives.

“Our mission is to deliver innovative business solutions, leveraging the best of our people and emerging technologies, empowering our network and elevating their productivity and profitability. Carolyn Cheng is not just our chief technologist, she is a strong people leader with a track record of designing and delivering top-tier services to our network of brokers and agents,” added Soper.

“It is a privilege to be acknowledged amongst a remarkable group of professionals who continue to set the standard for leadership excellence. This recognition reflects the hard work and creativity of our team whose dedication to delivering outstanding services continues to produce extraordinary results,” said Carolyn Cheng.

According to T3 Sixty, the annual SP 200 list is compiled of the real estate industry’s most powerful and respected professionals factoring in the scope, reach and leadership of some of the largest companies in North America. Executives are selected based on an extensive analysis of company performance metrics, individual biographies and in-depth discussions with industry leaders.

Soper and his team have advanced Bridgemarq companies to the forefront of North America’s highly competitive real estate industry since he joined Royal LePage as president in 2002. In 2016, he became the first Canadian to receive the Real Estate Leadership Award at the U.S. National Realtor Expo as ‘an industry visionary who embraces innovation and blazes new paths.’ Real Estate Marketing magazine declared him one of the 25 most important leaders of the past 25 years, and in 2015, Soper was honoured as ‘CEO of the Year’ by the Canadian Public Relations Society, a first for a real estate industry executive.

Prior to his real estate career, Phil Soper was an executive with technology giant IBM where he held national and global leadership roles. He is a graduate of the University of Alberta School of Business, and the University of Western Ontario’s Ivey Executive Program.
