Phil Soper, President and CEO

TORONTO, January 17, 2020 – For the seventh year in a row, Swanepoel Power 200 (SP200) has named Phil Soper, President and CEO of Royal LePage and Bridgemarq Real Estate Services, Inc., the most influential person in Canadian residential real estate. The SP200 is the definitive ranking of residential real estate leaders across North America. Soper was ranked 10th overall, rising one position from last year. Chief Operating Officer, Carolyn Cheng, has also been recognized on the prestigious list. Cheng is responsible for developing and overseeing new technology services as well as brokerage profitability and agent productivity initiatives.

“It is an honour to be recognized among the SP200’s top ten most influential real estate leaders and to again achieve the highest rank among Canadian leaders,” said Phil Soper. “I am also delighted to see that our Chief Operating Officer, Carolyn Cheng, has received the recognition she deserves.

“Leadership success is an elusive thing,” continued Soper. “As the head coach of a large and complex organization, my personal success is completely intertwined and dependent upon the performance of a team of passionate and talented people – all leaders in their own right. To them I say, bravo and thank you. I look forward to another decade of discovery and success!”

Cheng added, “I am delighted to be included among the real estate industry’s most distinguished executives. It is a recognition that I share with my team who continuously enables the company to be first to market in Canada with effective business solutions that resonate with franchisees, their agents and Canadian consumers.”

Carolyn Cheng, Chief Operating Officer

Soper and his team have advanced Bridgemarq companies to the forefront of North America’s highly competitive real estate industry since he joined Royal LePage as president in 2002. Bridgemarq Real Estate Services has grown to include some 20,000 Realtors selling $100 billion worth of real estate. The company’s charitable arm, the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation, is the nation’s largest foundation focused on eradicating domestic violence and supporting the women and children who fall victim to it.

Prior to his real estate career, Phil Soper was an executive with technology giant IBM where he held national and global leadership roles. He is a graduate of the University of Alberta School of Business, and the University of Western Ontario’s Ivey Executive Program.
