TORONTO, February 1, 2021 – For the eighth year in a row, T3 Sixty’s Swanepoel Power 200 (SP200) has named Phil Soper, President and CEO of Royal LePage and Bridgemarq Real Estate Services, Inc., the most influential person in Canadian residential real estate. Soper ranked 12th on the SP200, the definitive international ranking of residential real estate leaders. Chief Operating Officer, Carolyn Cheng, has also been recognized on the prestigious list for the second consecutive year. Cheng is responsible for developing and overseeing new technology services as well as brokerage and agent productivity initiatives.

“Receiving personal awards as a businessperson is a curious thing,” said Phil Soper. “You might feel vain in acknowledging recognition for simply doing your job. And then people you respect and love reach out and you realize that it is a chance to reflect on what you have accomplished together over the years.

“At Bridgemarq, we hold Stefan Swanepoel and the team at T3 Sity in high esteem and are grateful for all they contribute in research, advice and counsel,” he continued. “2020 was a year unlike any other. I am exceptionally proud of how our team performed, somehow driving record results in the face of such daunting public health and business challenges. We introduced bold new cloud-based business solutions that would allow our agents and management to do everything from anywhere; and equally as important, trained thousands on how to leverage the new technology. Front and centre in delivering these innovative new services was my talented and accomplished COO, Carolyn Cheng, who joins me again on the SP200.”

Cheng added, “Awards are shared by the teams whose hard work and innovation keep our business at the cutting edge. I have been fortunate to work with the best. In 2020, we launched rlpSPHERE, a highly anticipated digital brokerage ecosystem to benefit brokers, teams and agents and the company’s largest investment in technology to date. This significant recognition by Swanepoel is a moment for our team to celebrate what we have accomplished.”

According to T3 Sixty, the annual SP200 list is compiled from a review of some 3,000 industry leaders and their organizations, verifying data, announcements, and actions that took place over the year; and studying leaders’ tenure and personal influence in the industry.

Soper and his team have advanced Bridgemarq companies to the forefront of North America’s highly competitive real estate industry since he joined Royal LePage as president in 2002. In 2016, he became the first Canadian to receive the Real Estate Leadership Award at the U.S. National Realtor Expo as “an industry visionary who embraces innovation and blazes new paths.” Real Estate Marketing magazine declared him one the 25 most important leaders of the past 25 years and in 2015, Soper was honoured as “CEO of the Year” by the Canadian Public Relations Society, a first for a real estate industry executive.

Bridgemarq Real Estate Services has grown to include some 20,000 Realtors selling $100 billion worth of real estate. The company’s charitable arm, the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation, is the nation’s largest foundation focused on eradicating domestic violence and supporting the women and children who fall victim to it.

Prior to his real estate career, Phil Soper was an executive with technology giant IBM where he held national and global leadership roles. He is a graduate of the University of Alberta School of Business, and the University of Western Ontario’s Ivey Executive Program.
