BUILDING HISTORY
In 1846, architects Frederick Hacker and Edward Staveley drew up plans for an opulent residence for lawyer James Motz. The architectural type chosen takes up the model of the London (or ''Georgian'') house.
The interior decor was modified in 1897 this include the arch supported by the two iconic columns on the ground floor, the ''classic'' ceiling painted in the reception room on the first floor, the windows and the oak doors of the entrance.
The Laval University School of Education occupied the building from 1944 to 1967. The house was then occupied by a few tenants and a restaurant opened there shortly after. It was in 1981 that the house was transformed into a hotel with, on the ground floor, a catering service.
Located in the same building, the Auberge La Chouette and the Apsara restaurant are operated by members of a single family well known for their hospitality and concern for quality.
