Commerce Valley

The neighbourhood of Commerce Valley can be found in the city of Markham, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Toronto metropolitan area.


The substantial percentage of large apartment buildings in the housing stock of Commerce Valley is an important part of its character. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of two bedroom and one bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy around three quarters of the dwellings in the neighbourhood and the remainder are rented. The homes in this part of Markham are very new, since roughly 80% of its dwellings were constructed following the year 2000, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1990s.


The car is usually the best transportation option in Commerce Valley. Most of the street network is made for driving, and coming across a place to park is generally easy. On the other hand, residents using public transit may experience limited choices in Commerce Valley due to the low service level. Thankfully, residents benefit from approximately 10 bus lines, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most homes. Travelling by foot in this neighbourhood is not very common, even though running daily errands is easy. This part of Markham is also not very bike-friendly as bicycle riders encounter quite a few slopes, and the cycling infrastructure is not very comprehensive.


Parents and their children will welcome the proximity to both primary and secondary schools, which are within walking distance from the majority of homes for sale in Commerce Valley. However, parents and their children may find it challenging to access daycares on foot. As far as eating is concerned, it is generally possible for home buyers in Commerce Valley to buy their groceries by walking. Likewise, there is commonly a restaurant or cafe in close proximity. Residents have access to a fair number of clothing stores within walking distance.


There is a fairly good selection of green spaces in Commerce Valley. There are a few parks close by for residents to unwind in and they are especially well-spread out, which makes them easy to access from numerous locations within the neighbourhood. Lastly, this part of the city is relatively quiet, due to the presence of few people out and about on the streets, although those who are near Highway 404 or Highway 407 may experience more noise.
