River Heights

Part of the Greater Vancouver metropolitan area, River Heights is a neighbourhood within Coquitlam, British Columbia.

Housing

About 85% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 15% are rented. Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing many dwellings in this area, while the rest are mainly duplexes and townhouses. Most housing in this neighbourhood was built between 1980 and 1990, during its largest construction boom. This part of Coquitlam is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.

Transportation

Cars are an excellent medium of transportation in this part of Coquitlam. Finding a parking spot is easy, and most properties for sale are a reasonably short car ride from the closest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway. However, the public transit service in River Heights is not very frequent. Thankfully, residents have access to a few bus lines, and it is very convenient to find a nearby bus stop from most properties. This neighbourhood is not very suitable for those who travel by foot because running common errands is at times difficult by walking. River Heights is also not particularly cycling-friendly because riding is rendered arduous by the often sloping topography. Nevertheless, this part of Coquitlam has a fairly good bicycling infrastructure.

Services

There are only a limited number of primary schools in River Heights and accordingly they can be an extended walk away. Additionally, this part of Coquitlam does not contain any high schools. Likewise, families may consider it challenging for their children to get to daycares on foot. With respect to eating, home buyers in River Heights usually need a car to buy their groceries.

Character

Home buyers who prefer a relaxed atmosphere will enjoy River Heights. This neighbourhood is quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although that is not the case closer to Trans-Canada Highway or the railway line. Finally, parks are very well-distributed and there are approximately 10 of them close by for residents to check out, which makes them very easy to reach.
